Tree Falls On Car, Pole On Fire, Crashes: Newton Snow Impact
It might not look like that much snow, but officials are asking residents to drive carefully.

NEWTON, MA — The snow may have only caused an hour delay for schools, but it caused a tree to fall onto a car in a driveway this morning. There were several 911 calls reporting crashes and low hanging wires. Monday morning around 10:30 a.m. someone reported a pole on fire near the corner of Central and Maple streets.
Sunday night before the snow changed to rain the National Weather service got a report of 5.8 inches of the white stuff around 11 p.m. Rain has compressed the snow pack since then.
Most people still had power Monday, with only 46 electricity customers reporting they had outages.

Adopt your local hydrant this winter! This storm wasn’t too bad, but help us keeping Newton safe. Keep a 3 foot area around the hydrant clear, that way we can focus putting the wet stuff on the red stuff. #newtonma #newtonfire #snowstorm pic.twitter.com/VWL2Dio8r3
