• Brown Street Bridge reopens after two-year closure in North Adams (berkshireeagle.com) — Drivers in North Adams can once again use the Brown Street Bridge, which reopened Monday after a two-year safety closure that snarled traffic and slowed emergency response times. The $350,000 repair, funded with Chapter 90 and state flood-control money, fixed corroded beam footings and restores a key cut-through near Northern Berkshire EMS. City and state officials hailed the project as an early Christmas present for residents.

• 3 water main breaks over the weekend in North Adams; boil water advisories remain in effect (wnyt.com) — Some North Adams residents are still under a boil water advisory after three weekend water main breaks left parts of the city with little or no water and temporarily closed several businesses. The advisory now covers specific addresses on Main Street, American Legion Drive, State Road, and Biltmore Road, and officials are testing water daily in hopes of lifting restrictions within days.

• Neal, Baystate sound alarm on health cuts (gazettenet.com) — Major federal health care cuts outlined in the One Big Beautiful Bill could ripple into facilities that serve North Adams, including Berkshire Medical Center’s North Adams campus, through layoffs, reduced services, and higher private insurance premiums. Western Massachusetts leaders warn the changes may strain hospitals’ finances and push up costs for commercially insured patients as they try to offset shrinking Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements.
