1. New grants, state law support PVTA operations (recorder.com) — PVTA’s Northampton Transit Bus Garage in the Industrial Park is getting a $4.5 million federal upgrade, plus $1.1 million in state matching funds, to improve maintenance capacity and worker safety. At the same time, a new Massachusetts law now gives PVTA transit workers stronger legal protections against assault, aiming to make local bus service safer for both employees and riders. 
2. Northampton to look into snow removal ordinance (thereminder.com) — Northampton officials are reexamining the city’s snow removal ordinance after Councilor Jeremy Dubs, a wheelchair user, documented uncleared curb cuts and sidewalks that forced him into the street after a recent storm. The Ordinance Review Committee has asked the Transportation & Parking Commission to study enforcement gaps and consider stronger accountability so sidewalks and curb ramps are reliably cleared for residents with disabilities.
3. MA is Home to One of the 9 Nicest Small Towns in the Northern US (949whom.com) — Northampton gets a nod here as one of several welcoming Massachusetts destinations for history, arts, and culture lovers, even though the spotlight is really on Nantucket. The piece explains why Nantucket ranks among the nine nicest small towns in the northern U.S., highlighting its historic streets, museums, lighthouses, and dog-friendly beaches for potential visitors.
4. U.S. News: UMass Memorial Medical Center named #1 maternity hospital in Central Mass.
