5 North Andover Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — If you’re like many of your North Andover neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the North Andover area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

• Friends of North Andover Trails is an all-volunteer team of area residents, dedicated to preserving and enhancing North Andover's 70 miles of trails and open spaces.
• Windrush Farm promotes confidence, independence and well-being in children and adults with physical, cognitive or emotional challenges through therapeutic riding and horse-related programs.
• Merrimack Valley Black & Brown Voices provides Black, Indigenous, and People of Color across the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts with a safe space to connect, share resources, and create systemic change to eliminate prejudice and discrimination in surrounding communities.
• North Andover Historical Society aims to be a hub for culture, history, preservation, and community engagement.
• Angel Flight New England arranges free air and ground medical transportation for patients with limited financial resources who require frequent trips to life-saving medical care.
