Car Break Suspect Leads Police on Manhunt in Woods

The following information was supplied by the North Andover Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

North Andover Police and state police engaged in a manhunt in the woods behind the Greater Lawrence Sanitary District plant Tuesday night in pursuit of a suspected thief.

At just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, residents on Sutton Street reported seeing someone walking on that street looking into cars, North Andover Police Lt. Charles Gray said. One resident, who gave a description of the suspect, reported that his vehicle had been broken into and items were stolen.

Officer Jay Staude reportedly found the suspect, who then fled into the woods nearby.

Police notified state police, who assisted with the search, along with a helicopter and K-9 unit.

"The search lasted about an hour, and it was from the area from airport down to Charles Street,"Gray said. Police eventually found the suspect.

Michael Robertson, 24, of 479 Sutton St., was charged with receiving stolen property and breaking and entering.

This was Robinson's second charge of breaking into vehicles this year. In June, he was charged with breaking and entering after allegedly breaking into vehicles on Surrey Street.

And in March, Robinson was charged with domestic assault after his child's mother reported that he assaulted her at the Camelot Pub.
