NORTH ANDOVER, MA — The town has declared a local state of emergency following extreme flooding that closed roads and caused significant damage, according to a statement from Town Manager Melissa Rodrigues. The emergency was declared after an "unprecedented rain event."

"I am very thankful to our Police, Fire, 911, Emergency Management, DPW and all other employees who spent their day assisting residents and businesses affected by the storm," Rodrigues said in a statement. "Many streets are still closed or down to one travel lane as we work to disperse flooding."

The statement also reminded residents that if water reaches your boiler you should contact the fire department. You should also exercise extreme caution for electrical hazards in water like extension cords.
