Former Merrimack Hoops Star Getting Interest In Transfer Portal
Jordan Minor, who entered the transfer portal last month, is scheduled to visit Virginia, Florida Gulf Coast, Iowa and Seton Hall.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Former Merrimack College men's basketball star Jordan Minor has received plenty of interest from top-tier hoops programs since entering the NCAA transfer portal last month.
Minor, who was the Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Year as a senior this past season, announced his decision to transfer on March 17. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward has one year of eligibility remaining after all athletes received a "COVID year" for the 2020-2021 season.
According to the Portal Report, Minor was scheduled to visit Virginia and Florida Gulf Coast this weekend, Iowa on April 14-15 and Seton Hall on April 17-18, and additional visits are possible.

As a senior, Minor averaged 17.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.6 blocks per game, recording 15 double-doubles. He led Merrimack to an 18-16 record, which included rebounding from a rough start to win the NEC regular-season and tournament titles.
The Warriors won their final 11 games of the season, including a 67-66 win over Fairleigh Dickinson in the NEC Tournament title game. However, Merrimack was ineligible for the NCAA Tournament due to restrictions for teams that are transitioning to Division I.

Fairleigh Dickinson, of course, went on to upset No. 1 seed Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It was just the second time in tournament history that a No. 16 seed defeated a No. 1.
Minor, who is from Kingston, told Wahoos 24/7, a Virginia recruiting website, that he had a memorable collegiate experience in North Andover, but that it was time to seek other opportunities.
"My experience here at Merrimack was great," Minor said. "Coming out of high school I didn't have a lot of offers and interest, but Merrimack was the only school that 100 percent believed in me. I committed a week after they offered me and these last four years have been a blessing for me, especially this last year."
Minor continued: "For me, I entered the portal because after winning two conference titles and then this year a postseason championship, it was kind of hard to top that and see the benefit of coming back. I thought it was time to look for better options and opportunities, but at the same time I'm grateful for Merrimack. Without them, I wouldn't be in this position to be looking at other options."
Minor's former Merrimack teammate Ziggy Reid, a 6-foot-6 guard/forward, also entered the transfer portal on March 17. Reid, a Baltimore native, averaged 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game as a senior last season.
According to The Portal Report, Reid has recruiting visits scheduled to Towson, UMBC, Youngstown State, Purdue Fort Wayne and Chattanooga.
