Merrimack DB Garry Rosemond Jr. Named NEC Special Teams Player Of Week
Rosemond returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown in the Warriors' 45-17 win over Assumption on Friday. Rosemond also had a pick-six.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Merrimack College defensive back/kick returner Garry Rosemond Jr. was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Special Teams Player of the Week Tuesday for his performance Friday night against Assumption University.
Rosemond, a sophomore from Washington D.C., had a 94-yard kick return for a touchdown in the second half of the Warriors' 45-17 win over the Greyhounds at Duane Stadium. Merrimack improved to 1-1 on the season.
The kick return by Rosemond, which included a fake handoff to teammate Rodney Samson, came with 7:22 left in the contest and put the Warriors up 38-17.

In the first quarter, Rosemond also found the end zone when he picked off a pass and took it 40 yards to the house to give Merrimack a 14-0 advantage. It was Rosemond's second interception of the season.

Rosemond also had five tackles and one assisted tackle in the contest.

Merrimack sophomore quarterback Jack Zergiotis completed 12-of-26 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns in the game, sophomore wide receiver Jacari Carter had four catches for 68 yards and junior defensive Shayne Butler had two interceptions.
Merrimack visits Harvard at 7 p.m. Friday.
