Merrimack Men's Hoops Picked To Win NEC By Lindy's Sports

The publication also named the Warriors' Jordan Minor as the NEC preseason Player of the Year and the conference's best NBA prospect.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — The Merrimack College men's basketball team is getting a lot of love from one publication ahead of the upcoming season.

In the recently published Lindy's Sports College Basketball 2022-23 Preview, the Warriors have been picked to finish atop the Northeast Conference (NEC) this season.

In the publication, Merrimack senior forward Jordan Minor was voted as the conference's preseason Player of the Year and as a member of the preseason all-conference first team. Minor also was chosen as the NEC's best defender, most versatile player and the best NBA prospect.

Last winter, the Warriors finished 14-16 overall, 9-8 in the NEC, which was good for fifth place in the conference.

According to Lindy's, the Warriors could be battling for a conference crown in 2022-23.

"With four starters back, including NEC Player-of-the-Year candidate Jordan Minor, the Warriors are a contender," the publication wrote.

The 6-foot-8 Minor, who is from Kingston, averaged 15.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game last season, while also blocking 73 shots. He was an All-NEC, Second-Team selection.

Lindy's also picks Merrimack senior guard/forward Ziggy Reid as a preseason all-conference, second-team selection.

The 6-foot-6 Reid, from Baltimore, averaged 11.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last winter.

The Warriors are scheduled to open the regular season on Nov. 7 at St. John's. Merrimack's first home game is at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10 against Clark University. That contest will be played at Hammel Court.

Merrimack also is scheduled to play four games this season at Lawler Arena, the school's hockey arena where the basketball team first played last season. The first contest at Lawler is at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2 against Boston University.
