N.J. Football Player Charged with Rape During Visit to Merrimack Campus

Jamad Thomas was on a recruiting trip to the college, according to police.

North Andover, MA - A college football prospect from New Jersey was arrested and charged with raping a Merrimack College student while on a recruiting trip to the school over the weekend.

Jamad Thomas, 18, of East Orange, New Jersey was arraigned on the rape charge in Lawrence District Court on Monday, according to a report by Garrin Marchetti of the Eagle Tribune.

The alleged rape took place early Sunday morning, according to police.

Thomas was released on $20,000 cash bail and ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim or witnesses, according to Marchetti of the Eagle Tribune.
