North Andover Fire Department Provides Update On Brush Fire

The Sharpeners Pond Road blaze is somewhat contained but has already burned nearly six acres, fire officials said.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — The fire department said that the Sharpeners Pond Road brush fire is now 60% under control. The fire is not in proximity to any homes.

The department published an update on the second day of the fire on Facebook. The Haverhill and Boxford fire departments are assisting in fighting the blaze, which has been contained to under 6 acres.

Firefighters from the Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Bureau of Forest Fire Control & Forestry are also helping. Fire officials said to expect there will still be an odor of smoke in the area due to the Sharpeners Pond Road Fire and the Middleton fire.

"Please don’t hesitate to call 9-1-1 if you see flames near your home or if you or a loved one suffer any health effects related to the ongoing smoke condition," they wrote.

Fire risk remains across the state high as record-high temperatures are anticipated.
