North Andover Middle School Evacuated Due To Haz-Mat Incident [UPDATE]
A North Andover middle school was evacuated. All students and staff are reported safe.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — A North Andover middle school was evacuated because of a hazardous materials incident.
Acting Superintendent Pam Lathrop and Town Manager Melissa Rodrigues released the following statement on the evacuation:
We want to start this message by assuring families that all students and staff at the North Andover Middle School are safe.

This morning contractors at the Middle School were removing a tank that formerly contained materials used in the science labs. During that process, it was determined that the tank may not have been fully emptied.
Working with the North Andover Fire and Police Department, the Middle School was immediately evacuated. There is no immediate danger and no exposure for students or staff. The building was evacuated as a precaution so that the hazmat team could do a full evaluation. North Andover Fire, Police and EMS are all on scene.
