North Andover Named One of Top Places to Be a Veterinarian
Everyone please clap your paws.

One thing we know about North Andover is that a lot of residents have pets, and people here love their pets. Just look at the number of pet services businesses there are in town.
Well, insurance data organization Value Penguin has published a list of the top places to be a veterinarian, and North Andover made that list.
Grouped together at number 5 on the list are Amesbury, Haverhill and North Andover.
Criteria for ranking include"
Median veterinarian salary (they list North Andover as more than $100,000);
Cost of living (to determine how far people's money will go and -- presumably-- how much money they can set aside for pet care);
Location quotient, which determines job prospects in the field within that community by measuring the concentration of veterinarians as a proportion of all occupations and compared with national averages -- with a higher location quotient suggesting a high demand for veterinary services, according to Value Penguin.
These figures are calculated into an equation to determine an overall score out of 100.
The North Andover-Haverhill-Amesbury area scored 85 percent. Median salary is 100,900, there are 70 veterinarians with a location quotient of 2.12, and a cost-of-living score of 126.
"Veterinarians in this area are represented at twice the national concentration average, with a median salary of $100,900," the report reads. "North Andover, in particular, is a quintessential New England city with well-preserved historical sites, a rich history of industry, and the Lake Cochichewick - charmingly named 'Place of Great Cascades.'"
