North Andover Postpones Sun. Tree Lighting, Sat. Santa Parade Still On

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — The Town of North Andover has announced that the town's Tree Lighting event scheduled for Sunday has been postponed to Dec. 4, due to a forecast of heavy rains and wind this weekend.

Saturday's North Andover Santa Parade will go ahead as scheduled, a North Andover spokesperson said.

According to AccuWeather, the forecast for Sunday in North Andover — the original event was scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. — is supposed to be 54 degrees during the day, with a 92-percent chance of rain. Afternoon wind gusts are expected to reach 18 mph.

At night, the forecast is for a temperature of 43 degrees, with a 16-percent chance of rain and wind gusts of 21 mph.

Town officials said the rescheduled ceremony on Dec. 4 also is set for 4 pm. to 7 p.m. on the Town Common. There will be treats, entertainment — including caroling — and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Saturday's Santa Parade is scheduled to begin at noon.

The parade starts at North Andover Middle School and travels down Main Street, turns onto Elm Street, Water Street, and back onto Main Street, ending at Sutton Street.

This year's parade will feature a monster truck from EarthWorks, several youth sports leagues and entertainment from several dance schools and musical groups.
