Last week, more than 60 volunteers gathered at Sargent Elementary School to build a new play structure for the kindergarten and first grade students, according to Lisa Roberts.
"Together with professional installers, the volunteers worked tirelessly digging footings, mixing and pouring concrete, standing-up structures, and spreading over 100-yards of surfacing to complete the project. Parents, faculty, staff, and high school students joined-in the effort to replace the play structure that was installed when the school was first built 20 years ago," Roberts said. "It was a memorable experience for the community as a whole."
After lengthy discussions and planning, the Playground Committee came up with a three-phase development, with the first phase starting this month. The final stage is expected to be completed in October 2015.
