Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flood Warnings Issued In Essex County

Residents should expect wind damage to trees and power lines, the National Weather Service said.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — The National Weather Service issued flash flood and severe thunderstorm warnings for Essex County Thursday.

Most of Essex County and part of Middlesex County are under flash flood warnings until 2:45 p.m. as extreme weather and rain sweeps the state.

Southcentral Essex County is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 12:30 p.m.

Hazards include wind gusts up to 60 mph and potential quarter-sized hail. Residents are warned to expect wind damage to trees and power lines, the weather service said. Hail damage to cars is possible.

Residents should avoid walking or driving through floodwaters and seek higher ground to avoid flash floods.
