There's a battle raging at one of our local supermarket chains.
On Thursday, the Board of Directors of Market Basket will vote on whether or not to remove Arthur T. Demoulas as CEO of that company and replace him with his cousin, Arthur S. Demoulas.
Employees are rallying for Arthur T., saying he is responsible for the company's growth and employee pride. You may have noticed the "Save Market Basket" signs in front of the stores.
The group has launched a Facebook page and an online petition to keep Arthur T. as CEO.
Arthur S. started his pursuit of the CEO position earlier this year when he gained control of the board of directors.
Those on the board pushing to remove Arthur T. have said he spends money recklessly and ignores the board. But employees who support Arthur T. say they will lose benefits and prices will rise if Arthur T. is removed.
