What Was the Chaos on Main Street the Other Day?

Donuts, smoke and a little bird.

You may have noticed Main Street blocked off Tuesday during your commute home as well as fire trucks outside Dunkin Donuts.

For this week's "You Ask... Patch Answers," people assumed Dunkin Donuts was on fire, but it turns out that was't the case. And the reason for the smoke in that building is stranger than you think.

Just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called to Dunkin Donuts (fortunately it wasn't a long drive since it's right across the street from the Fire Station) for a report of smoke in the building. After examining the situation, it was determined that there wasn't a fire but an HVAC unit on the roof was broken.

Firefighters noticed a transformer had been tripped on School Street. And it was determined that a bird had tripped that transformer, causing the HVAC unit on the roof of Dunkin Donuts to shut down.

So there you have it. A bird caused that chaos on Main Street at Dunkin Donuts. Fortunately, firefighters were able to have the smoke cleared and the HVAC unit was repaired quickly, and business on Main Street resumed as usual.
