Community Remembers Sophie Sybil

Sophie L. Sybil, 99, of Medford died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 in Winchester, after a brief illness. Born in Boston, Sophie was the devoted daughter of the late Mary (Sowa) and Bartolemew Puzyck.

Sophie was a Medford resident for the last 60 years, formerly of Boston. She enjoyed travelling with her beloved late husband Francis. She loved to cook for her family who often gathered at her house on Sundays and Fridays.

In addition to her late husband, Sophie is survived by her beloved daughters, Carole Poirier of Burlington, and Lorraine Veitch and her husband Owen of Northborough. She was the loving grandmother of Richard Veitch and his wife Theresa of Duxbury, Kristen Veitch of Burlington, Gregory Veitch and his wife Kerry of Sudbury, Stephen Poirier and his wife Rebecca of Billerica, Amy Poirier of Lowell, and Karen Poirier of Chelmsford. She is also survived by 8 loving great- grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Stella Rinone and Anna Day. She was the loving aunt of Marie Rinone of New Hampshire, and William Rinone of Groveland.

A funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford will be held Monday, Nov. 18 at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.

Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
