Kids' Craft Room Joins Country Store Fair Fare

The Friends of the Northborough Senior Center's fair is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the senior center.

Kids will have smiles on their faces at Saturday's Country Store Fair, and not just painted smiles.

A Kids' Craft Room is new to the Friends of the Northborough Senior Center's fair, set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the senior center, 119 Bearfoot Road, says Friends President Muriel Swenor.

Students from Algonquin Regional High School's Community Action Program will help kids make crafts, Swenor said Tuesday during an e-mail interview.

The fair also will offer face painting again, she said.

"This will allow fairgoers with children to concentrate on shopping knowing that the little ones will be kept occupied and having fun," Swenor said.

Admission to the fair is free. The proceeds will support activities by the Northborough Council on Aging and the Northborough Senior Center.

"My favorite part of the Fair is enjoying the ‘kick-off’ of the holiday season by getting the wider community involved in the festivities," Swenor said.

"We are so fortunate that our senior center is a multi-generational gathering place which we cherish, as evidenced by our Algonquin Regional High School student participation on Fair day and their involvement in some of the program offerings throughout the year."

A wide variety of baked goods will be available at the fair.

"We can always count on 30 to 40 bakers to support this popular table at our fair. And we have donations of homemade preserves as well," Swenor said.
