Attempted Child Rape, Enticing Minor Arrest In Northborough

NORTHBOROUGH, MA—A Milford man is facing charges after officials say he tried tried to meet with a young girl in Northborough through a Craigslist ad.

On Thursday, March 22, the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crimes Unit and the Department of Homeland Security assisted Northborough police assisted in the arrest of Mark Baier, 55, Milford, for enticing and minor and attempted rape.

Baier had posted on Craiglist.com that he was interested in meeting a young female in Northborough, according to the police report. Northborough detectives responded to the advertisement and had further conversation with him. As a result, an undercover detective met with Baier in Northborough where he expressed his desire to have a sexual relationship with an eleven year old female.

According to police, Baier drove to Watson Park in Northborough, where he was under the impression he
would be meeting an eleven year old girl who was to be brought to him by the undercover detective. This is when Baier said he was going to have sexual contact with the minor inside his van.

He was placed under arrest by officers from the Northborough Police at Watson Park.

Baier was arraigned at Westborough District Court this morning on the following charges; Enticing a minor under the age of 16 for sex and Attempting to commit child rape.
