Northborough Fire Chief Encourages Remembering Firefighters Daily
During the 9/11 Remembrance ceremony Chief David Parenti said, "Keep [first responders] in mind all of the time."
NORTHBOROUGH, MA — While victims of 9/11 were remembered on Saturday, Chief David Parenti also took time to recognize his own crew.
Northborough has had six casualties in the past couple weeks, including a man who died in a fire at 129 Maple St. on Friday.
Paralleling the bravery of the first responders on 9/11, Parenti said that firefighters "do everything they can to save a life, especially yesterday.

"I want you all to know the caring and compassion I have seen from all members of the police, fire department, dispatchers. These are the men and woman who work for you."
Chaplain Richard Martino talked about spending five weeks at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11.

"Do what God has called you to do," he said. "You have no idea when you get on the rig what will happen."
Martino said that 9/11 reminds "us of the need to focus on loved ones and the simple things in life."
