Northborough's town offices will close early for Christmas and New Year's Day.

Selectmen voted 4-0 on Monday night to allow the town offices to close for non-essential staff at noon on Dec. 24, which is Christmas Eve, and at 4 p.m. on Dec. 31, which is New Year's Eve.

Town Administrator John Coderre requested the Christmas Eve change on behalf of the town hall employees, which, he said, is a tradition, "to allow folks to get home and spend time with their families."

Selectman William Pantazis suggested the change for New Year's Eve, which, he noted, is a Tuesday. The town offices' regularly close at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, he said.
