5 Things: Citywide Spring Leaf Collection Begins
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on April 29 in the North End.

1. Mostly sunny: Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 69 and a low around 47, according to the National Weather Service.
2. Yard waste collection: The City of Boston will begin spring leaf collection this week. Residents can place leaf and yard waste in large paper leaf bags or open barrels marked “yard waste,” to be collected on their usual recycling day. No plastic bags will be collected. Collection will continue through May 24. Get a free yard waste sticker and learn more about yard waste collection by calling 617-635-4500 or visiting cityofboston.gov/recycle.
3. Dog stories: A member of the North End dog owner's group Responsible Urbanites for Fido (RUFF) will read dog stories followed by a dog craft today at 4:30 p.m. at the North End Branch Library. This program is for children ages 3 and up accompanied by a caregiver.
4. Children’s films: On Mondays, come and watch children films at the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.). Call the library at 617-227-8135 to verify that this event has not been rescheduled or canceled.5.

5. Summer healthcare jobs: MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center is looking for students to fill seven positions with their summer jobs program, which runs July 8 through Aug. 16. To refer a student, send the individual’s name and contact information to lsaulnier@partners.org or call 617-724-5534. The last day to submit a name is May 3.
