• NEWNC Supports 97 Salem Street Condominiums (northendregionalreview.com) — North End residents packed the North Bennet Street Community Center as NEWNC backed a plan to convert 97 Salem Street into a bakery with five condos above, despite some opposition. The council also supported a new non-alcoholic restaurant license for Maria Forno and heard neighbors’ concerns about a proposed six-story building on North Washington Street, which was sent back for revisions.

• North End Athletic Association and BCYF Nazzaro Center Offer Indoor Futsol Program (northendregionalreview.com) — Families in the North End can now register kids ages 7–10 for a free 10‑week indoor futsal league at the BCYF Nazzaro Center, running January 8 through March 19. Games are Thursday evenings, teams get World Cup jerseys, and the season ends with a championship match and awards. Registration closes December 26, and parent volunteers are needed as coaches.

• Short Play Penned by Beacon Hill Resident Rob Whitney to Premiere Next Month in Newburyport (thebostonsun.com) — A Beacon Hill attorney’s first play, “Puck,” will debut next month at Newburyport’s Firehouse Center for the Arts, drawing on real conversations with his son about youth hockey. The story is rooted partly in memories of North End Youth Hockey at Steriti Rink. Local theater fans can catch the nine‑minute one‑act during the New Works Festival on January 24 and 25.
