5 Things: Friends of Christopher Columbus Park Social
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on March 21 in the North End.

1. Snow possible: Today will be mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers, mainly after 10 a.m. and again this evening after 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. High: 39, Low: 26. Little to no accumulation is expected.
2. Friends’ social: The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park will hold their 2013 Membership Drive Social today from 6-8 p.m. at The Living Room (101 Atlantic Ave.). Renew your annual membership, become a new member, meet new neighbors, visit with friends and learn more about the Friends in a fun and casual atmosphere. Questions? Email info@foccp.org.
3. Orange Line diversion: Buses will replace Orange Line trains between Sullivan Square and Oak Grove stations beginning at 9 p.m. through the end of service today and Sunday, March 24. The alternate bus service will make stops at all stations between Sullivan Square and Oak Grove stations.

4. Aquarium lecture: The New England Aquarium (1 Central Wharf) will host a free lecture today at 7 p.m. about the book “Race France to France: Leave Antarctica to Starboard” by Rich Wilson, which looks at the Vendée Globe nautical race. A book signing will follow. This event is open to the public and is part of the Aquarium’s free lecture series. Events will be held in the Aquarium's Harborside Learning Lab.
5. Winter Party: The Charlestown Preservation Society and the Charlestown Historical Society will host a Winter Party today from 7-9:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall (14 Green St.) with beer, wine and food. The event will include a display on the Samuel Dexter House and a visit from Abraham Lincoln via a historic interpreter. There will also be a 50/50 drawing, with the proceeds going to the Abraham Lincoln Post.
