5 Things: History of the Cannoli, Parks Meeting

1. Rainy: Today will be cloudy with showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day and into the evening, mainly before 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. High: 69, Low: 61.
2. History of the Cannoli: The North End Historical Society will host a talk tonight on “The History of Cannoli: Italian American v. Italian,” at 6 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community Center (30 N. Bennet St.). The program is free and open to all.
3. Forbidden film: Drop by the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.) today at 6 p.m. to watch the 1932 film “Red-Headed Woman,” part of the library’s Forbidden Hollywood film series.

4. Parks meeting: The Friends of the North End Parks will meet today at 6:30 p.m. at the Mariner’s House (11 North Square).
5. Special visitors: Lulu the Ladybug Girl, from the cherished children’s books by David Soman and Jacky Davis, will drop by the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) today at 11 a.m. to meet with children and pose for pictures. Also today, Clifford the Big Red Dog will visit the Central Branch in Copley Square (700 Boylston St.) at 11 a.m., part of 529 Day, which highlights the importance of saving for college.
