5 Things: Jazz and Poetry at the North End Library

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on April 3 in the North End.

1. Mostly sunny: Today will be mostly sunny and breezy, according to the National Weather Service. High: 45, Low: 29.

2. Jazz and poetry event: New England Conservatory students will read jazz-influenced poems selected by former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky and perform the music that inspired them today at 6 p.m. at the North End Branch Library. The program is a celebration of National Poetry Month and the Smithsonian's Jazz Appreciation Month, which coincide in April. This event is presented by JazzBoston and sponsored by the City Wide Friends of the Boston Public Library.

3. Parks meeting: The Friends of the North End Parks will meet today at 6:30 p.m. at the Mariner’s House (11 North Square).

4. Job search help: Neighbors helping Neighbors USA meets every Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Boston Public Library’s Central Branch (700 Boylston St.). The free, peer-led group helps individuals in their job search.

5. Sen. Warren in Boston: U.S. Senator from Massachusetts Elizabeth Warren will be in Boston today to attend a roundtable discussion with local women business owners who have received community development block grant funding. She'll be at the Bella Luna Restaurant (284 Amory St.) in JP to talk about the impact this direct funding has had on their success.
