5 Things: Mayor's Coffee at Christopher Columbus Park

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on May 15 in the North End.

1. Chance of showers: Today will be increasingly cloudy with a chance of showers between 3 and 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. High: 64, Low: 53.

2. Coffee with the mayor: Join Mayor Tom Menino for free coffee and refreshments at Christopher Columbus Park (110 Atlantic Ave.) this morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m., part of the Mayor’s Neighborhood Coffee Hour Series, co-sponsored by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. All residents who attend will receive a free flowering plant.

3. Forbidden film: Drop by the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.) today at 6 p.m. to watch the 1933 film “”Baby Face,” part of the library’s Forbidden Hollywood film series.

4. Parks meeting: The Friends of the North End Parks will meet today at 6:30 p.m. at the Mariner’s House (11 North Square).

5. Boston Bites Back: About 100 of Boston's top chefs are teaming up for a special culinary tasting event at Fenway Park today from 6-10 p.m. to raise $1 million for The One Fund. General admission is $200, and VIP admission is $1,000 per ticket.
