5 Things: Public Safety Meeting, Veterans' Benefit

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on May 2 in the North End.

1. Cloudy: Today will be increasingly cloudy with a light wind, according to the National Weather Service. High: 66, Low: 43.

2. Public safety meeting: The North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council Public Safety Committee meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Nazzaro Center (30 N. Bennet St.). Public Safety meetings are led by District A-1 Boston Police and are open to the public.

3. Veterans’ benefit: There & Back Again, a private, nonprofit wellness organization that helps combat veterans navigate life after war, will hold their fifth annual “Evening to Support the Wellness of Combat Veterans” benefit tonight at 6 p.m. at 3 Battery Wharf. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, gourmet food stations, a cash bar, The Greater Boston Firefighters Pipes & Drums, silent and live auctions and a raffle. 4. Free art: Admission to the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (100 Northern Ave.) is free to all ages every Thursday from 5-9 p.m.

5. Kids’ music: Get up and go with the Alphabet Rockers today at the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) at 4:30 p.m. Dance and clap along with positive lyrics about nutrition, health and more. This program is free and open to all.
