5 Things: Rabies Clinic, Kids' Chess, RUFF Meeting

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on May 21 in the North End.

1. Possible rain: Today will be cloudy with a chance of showers after 1 p.m. and into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. High: 64, Low: 57.

2. Kids’ chess: The North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.) Chess Club will meet today, with a beginner session from 4-4:45 p.m. and intermediate session from 4:45-5:30 p.m. Call ahead to sign up with the children’s librarian, 617-227-8135.

3. RUFF meeting: The Responsible Urbanites for Fido (RUFF), a dog friendly group in the North End, will hold their monthly meeting today at 7 p.m. at the Nazzaro Center (30 N. Bennet St.).

5. Dog license and rabies vaccine clinic: A dog licensing and low-cost rabies vaccine clinic will be held today from 4-7 p.m. at the Boston Centers for Youth and Family Charlestown Community Center (255 Medford St.). Cost for the vaccine is $5 per dog or cat, or $2 for senior pet owners. The dog licensing fee is $6 for pets that are spayed or neutered and $17 for all others.
