5 Things: Tall Tales, RUFF Fundraiser
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on April 19 in the North End.

1. Showers possible: Today will be mostly cloudy with a high near 71 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. There is a slight chance of showers during the day and likely showers and a possible thunderstorm in the evening. Low around 51. Weekend forecast: Partly sunny with morning showers possible on Saturday; high near 60, low around 37. Sunny with a high of 52 on Sunday, low around 37.
2. Tall Tales at the library: Drop by the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.) today at 10:30 a.m. for Big Ryan’s Tall Tales, featuring music, movement, puppets, original stories and more. This show is free and geared toward children ages 3-9.
3. North End dog group fundraiser: RUFF, Responsible Urbanites for Fido, will hold a fundraiser on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at the Improv Asylum (216 Hanover St.). Funds raised at the event will help the group clean up for spring and will support efforts to build a dog park. Learn more on the group’s Facebook page or by emailing info@ruffboston.org.

4. Afternoon with the Champ: Former undisputed Welterweight Champion Tony DeMarco will be at Caffé Vittoria (290 Hanover St) on Saturday from 1-4 p.m. to promote his autobiography, “Nardo: Memoirs of a Boxing Champion.”
5. One Fund: Governor Deval Patrick and Mayor Tom Menino have formed The One Fund Boston Inc. to help the people most affected by the bombing at the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15. For more information and to donate, check out this article on North End Patch.
