5 Things: Wine Tasting Benefit, Book Sale Donations
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on May 3 in the North End.

1. Sunny: Today will be sunny with a high near 60 degrees and a low around 44, according to the National Weather Service. Weekend forecast: Saturday and Sunny will be clear and sunny with highs in the low 60s and lows around 43 degrees.
2. Library activities: Drop by the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.) today at 10:30 a.m. for a preschool story time. On Saturday at 11 a.m., come to the library for a viewing of the 1982 film “Ghandi” (Rated PG, 191 minutes), part of the Epic Film Series.
3. Wine tasting: Say goodbye to a long, cold winter with “A Taste of Spring,” a special wine tasting event to benefit the Room to Dream Foundation, whose mission is to create healing environments for chronically ill children and adolescents. The event will be held tonight from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Fairmont Battery Wharf (3 Battery Wharf) and will include fine wines, hors d’oeuvres, a live auction and raffle. 4. Book sale: The Friends of the North End Branch Library are looking for donations of books, CDs and DVDs for their book sale, coming up on Saturday, May 18. For more information about the Friends, visit friendsnelibrary.org.
5. One Fund concert: A benefit concert supporting the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Old South Church (645 Boylston St.). Musicians from Boston University and other conservatories will unite in a program of classical music promoting reflection, healing and strength. Admission is free, and all donations will aid recovering victims via The One Fund Boston.
