Battle of Bunker Hill Day Ceremony Today
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on June 17 in the North End and nearby.

1. Mostly sunny: Today will be mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers, according to the National Weather Service. The evening will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and patchy fog after 5 a.m. High: 80, Low: 63.
2. Battle of Bunker Hill Day: Join members of the James W. Conway American Legion Post 26, the Bunker Hill Monument Association and National Park Service in commemorating the Battle of Bunker Hill today at 11 a.m. at Monument Square. Also today, St. Francis de Sales Church (313 Bunker Hill St.) will hold an ecumenical prayer service at 10 a.m., which is open to all. And the Bunker Hill Monument Association will hold its annual meeting at 1 p.m. at the Bunker Hill Museum (43 Monument Square).
3. Children’s films: On Mondays, come and watch children films at the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.). Call the library at 617-227-8135 to verify that this event has not been rescheduled or canceled.

5. Jimmy Fund Little League: Little leaguers of New England are being encouraged to grab a bat and glove and take a swing at cancer by joining the Jimmy Fund Little League Program presented by Extra Innings to help support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The program, in its 27th year, gives kids a chance to play baseball or softball after their regular season ends. Play runs through July and August. Learn more at www.jimmyfund.org/littleleague.
