Cars, Cyclists Create Narrow-Street Traffic Jams

While cars, buses and bicycles clog narrow city streets once designed for cows, officials are trying to find new ways to loosen traffic in Boston.

The Boston Herald reported Friday that daily 75,000 cars, 6,000 cyclsist over 500 MBTA buses, 130 duckboats and other vehicles use Boston’s roadways leading to seemingly unending traffic.

Commission of the Boston Transportation Department Tom Tinlin told the Herald the city is in the process of implementing a GPS-lead video sign traffic program, street censors that will steer drivers to empty parking spaces and a program in which city workers will monitor and shut down construction sites as necessary to help keep traffic moving.
