Free Presidential Tattoo Plan Goes South at North End Shop
After Donald Trump's victory, Boston Barber & Tattoo Co. said a "fun" promotion turned "nasty."
NORTH END, MA — In further evidence that election tensions haven't cooled, a Boston tattoo shop's attempt at a "fun" promotion turned so ugly they had to shut the event down.
The premise was to offer a free tattoo for whichever candidate won the presidential election, something Boston Barber & Tattoo Co. said it promoted on social media in advance.
As it turns out, that candidate was Donald Trump.

But that attempt at a freebie went south quickly, the shop's owner told The Boston Globe: a line formed for the tattoos, more people showed up to antagonize the Trump supporters, and Boston Barber & Tattoo Co. ultimately shut the whole thing down because staff felt unsafe. All told, only one tattoo was completed, he told the Globe.
"Just trying to have a little fun and it turned nasty," the barbershop posted in response to one Twitter commenter.
