Get Ready for North End's Piazza Italia This Weekend

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on May 31 in the North End.

1. Sunny: Today will be clear and sunny with a high near 93 degrees and a low around 70, according to the National Weather Service. Weekend forecast: Mostly sunny with highs in the low 90s and lows around 65 degrees. There is a chance of rain or thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday night, with heavy rain possible Sunday.

2. Piazza Italia: The annual Piazza Italia will take place this Sunday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Christopher Columbus Park. The free event will include exhibits, a children’s area, entertainment, an Italian café and a concert at 5 p.m. Connected to the festival, the annual bocce tournament will be held on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Langone Park.

3. Sailing open house: The Boston Sailing Center (54 Lewis Wharf) will hold an open house on Saturday, June 1 from 1-4 p.m. Individuals of all sailing levels are welcome to come enjoy a free trip led by one of the center’s experienced sailors and learn more about the center’s Learn to Sail programs. 4. Yard sale: The North End Music and Performing Arts Center will hold its Yard Sale on the Prado on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the NEMPAC building (16 Charter St.). 

5. BNN-TV workshops: The Boston Neighborhood Network is offering a workshop on Screenwriting for Movies and one on learning how to edit media using Final Cut Pro on Saturdays, June 1-29. Cost for either class is $100 for BNN-TV members and $150 for non-members. Register online at bnntv.org.
