Greenway Swings Temporarily Removed for Maintenance

Replacements are coming.

Boston, MA - Just as Boston weather starts getting truly beautiful, the Rose Kennedy Greenway has had to take its popular porch swings out of commission in the North End.

The Greenway reports the bench-length public swings are back in their manufacturers' hands for maintenance after signs of stress created safety concerns, spokesman Michael Nichols said.

The organization behind the Greenway's string of public space and creative works promises a temporary fix is coming soon, and the porch swings themselves will return as soon as they're back in working order.

In the meantime the hope is to install extra benches or picnic tables, Nichols said.
