Is the North End Losing its Italian Identity?
An Italian-American group is spending Columbus Day in Revere, saying it's more Italian than the North End.

NorthEndWaterfront recently posted a bit of shocking news. It reported the Massachusetts Grand Lodge of the Order Sons of Italy in America would not be marching in this year's North End Columbus Day Parade.
"Citing a changing demographic, the Italian-American organization told the North End organizers that it will instead march in the city of Revere this year," NorthEndWaterfront reported. It appears the North End isn't Italian enough anymore.
It's a fascinating article, and you can read it here.
It begs the question: Is the North End losing its Italian identity?
Some other questions come to mind, too: Where's the line between being an Italian-American neighborhood and being an Italian-American theme park, and has that line been crossed?
Also, as one of Boston's earliest settled areas, the North End, through the decades, has been home to many different people. Is demographic change an intrinsic part of the neighborhood's character?
