Mass RMV to Open New Boston Branch Monday

The branch is moving from Chinatown to Haymarket Center.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation Registry of Motor Vehicles will open a new branch to customers in Boston’s Haymarket on Monday.

The new branch, according to MassDOT, was designed to improve efficiency and enhance customer privacy, and will also offer an E-ZPass Customer Service Center.

The branch is located at Haymarket Center, 136 Blackstone Street, and is adjacent to the MBTA’s Haymarket Station stop, with more than 10 bus routes in the area. Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week, except for Thursday, when the branch will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Boston RMV branch is moving to Haymarket Center after 16 years on Washington Street in Chinatown. MassDOT announced Sunday that the Chinatown location had officially closed its doors prior to Monday’s new branch opening.

Customers looking to make transactions related to drivers licenses, IDs, registrations or title transactions will be directed to the second floor of the new venue; the third floor will be for E-ZPass customers and will also include hearing offices. The first floor will be a permanent home to the Boston Public Market.

A ribbon cutting for the new branch is planned at Haymarket Center for Sept. 23 at 10:30 a.m.
