The book about Boston's longest serving mayor is expected to come out next spring.

By David Ertischek

Boston's longest serving Mayor Thomas Menino has tapped writer Jack Beatty to assist him in writing his memoir scheduled for release next spring.

“It’s a story of my 20 years as mayor, the things we’ve dealt with, and the changes we’ve seen,” Menino told Boston.com.

Beatty, a senior editor for The Atlantic, also won the 1993 American Book Award for "The Rascal King: The Life and Times of James Michael Curley."
