Police: Fight Broke Out on Canal Street After Bar Patrons Bumped into One Another

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions.

A fight broke out on Canal Street after two bar patrons bumped into eachother. 

Boston Police responded to a report of a fight at about 1:59 a.m. on May 18 in the area of 101 Canal Street.

According to the report, officers observed a large group dispersing in different directions around Hurricane O’Reilly’s, The Fours and Sullivan’s Tap.

Someone in the crowd told police that there was a man lying on the street, bleeding, near 166 Canal Street. EMT’s arrived and treated the victim for non-life threatening injuries at Mass General Hospital. The victim told police that he was punched in the face, but did not see who swung at him.

The victim could not tell who the main attackers were due to the size of the crowd.

The fight took place while the victim and his friends were leaving Hurricane O’Reilly’s when someone bumped into someone else. At this point, the fight broke out in front of Hurricane O’Reilly’s.

The victim tried to break up the fight and was punched and kicked. He was struck in the stomach and the face.

Officers collected the description of the attackers and searched the area to no avail.
