Police: Man Broke into a Truck, Took Briefcase and Fire Exstinguisher on Friend Street

A Weham man was charged with breaking into a someone's truck on Friend Street.
A man on the sidewalk on Friend Street flagged two Boston Police officers down on May 15 at about 10:54 p.m.
The man told officers that he had just caught a man breaking into his truck. The suspect had taken a briefcase and a new fire extinguisher. The man was able to get his property back.

Officers located the suspect on Causeway Street and stopped him for questioning. Officers saw that the suspect had an open bottle of Brandy.
The suspect denied breaking into the truck and taking items. The suspect was clearly intoxicated, according to their report. Officers arrested Omar Benitez of 14 Dodges Street, Wenham, MA and charged him with breaking and entering by force.

According to the police, the man said that they were “making a big mistake” because he was a paralegal. Officers explained that if he were a paralegal, he would know that he had broken the law.
