Police: Watertown Man Charged with Attacking Bar Employee in an Alleyway

A Watertown man was charged with attacking a bar employee in an alleyway near 200 High Street.

Boston Police were patrolling the downtown area at about 1 a.m. on Friday, May 10. Officers were on High Street when they were flagged down in front of Howl At The Moon. The person told police that there was a fight in the back alleyway behind Jullep.

The victim and a witness, both employees of Jullep, were in the alleyway when three males walked down the alley. The victim told the men that the alleyway was private property and that they had to leave.

One of the three men started yelling at the victim. At some point, the man walked over and kicked the victim in his left leg. The victim reported that he felt a sharp pain in his leg and fell to the ground and was unable to put any pressure on it. The victim said that one of the three men tried to stop the suspect, but was unable to.

Officers arrested Jose Mello of 18 Lexington Street, Watertown, and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. At the booking desk, the suspect said, “I just kicked him a little, he attacked my friend.”
