R.U.F.F. Trying To Improve Relations Between Dog Owners, Community

Dog owners and the community have a new avenue of communication.

R.U.F.F., Responsible Urbanites For Fido, are trying to create a better dialog between responsible dog owners and the community in the North End.

"Our goal is to address the negative energy towards dog owners, some of which is very valid.

β€œThe most difficult task is confronting dog owners who do not follow protocol,” Horn said. β€œWe are working on ways to address what language people should use to confront improper dog owners.”

β€œWe post signs around the community parks, saying that some are dog friendly and some are not,” R.U.F.F. ambassador Leslie Horn told the North End Water Front Residents’ Association. "WeΒ organize community clean ups. Our next one is on August 19 at 9 a.m.”

R.U.F.F. is a new group with growing popularity. In the beginning of July, there were 18 members, today there are 72. β€œOur goal is to help people get to know their neighbors, get to know who lives on your street and make a big city a little smaller,” Horn said.
