Batchelder School Students Win National Science Fair
Harley Duffley, John Jennings IV, Annika Howe, and Abby E. Wall all worked together on the award winning project.

Four third-grade students from the Batchelder School won the K-3 category in the Toshiba/National Science Teachers Association ExploraVision Program, according to a boston.com article.
Harley Duffley, John Jennings IV, Annika Howe, and Abby E. Wall, all nine-years-old, won with their SIGHT system project, according to the article. SIGHT stands for Safety, Interactive, Guided, Holographic, Technology and the project is a futuristic tool featuring holographic imaging and a map aimed to help firefighters and police officers save lives.
Howe's father is a police officer, which served as inspiration for the project.

“I love how we did it, and I love how this works for two [types of] people: firefighters and police officers,” she said in the article.
Just over 5,200 team projects were submitted from 15,963 students from the United States and Canada. The students predicted what technology would be like in the next 20 years and created a project around that, according to the article.

The students won a $10,000 savings bond and Toshiba HD camcorders. They will also go on an expenses-paid trip to Washington D. C. in June to attend a gala awards weekend, visit Capitol Hill, display their work at a science showcase and meet members of congress, the article said.
