Carpenter Wins Hockey East Player of the Year

The North Reading native is also up for the award given to the top women's collegiate hockey player in the nation.

North Reading’s Alex Carpenter has been named Hockey East Warrior Player of the Year and is also up for an award as the top women’s collegiate hockey player in the nation.

The Boston College women’s hockey junior forward, who played for the US Women’s Hockey Team in the 2014 Olympics, won the conference’s player of the year for the second time in her collegiate career.

Carpenter has stored a record 75 points with 33 goals and 42 assists this season. She set a school record 25-game point streak from Oct. 4-Feb. 3. She won WHEA Player of the Week three times and Player of the Month twice.

Carpenter is also up for the Patty Kazmaier Award for top women’s collegiate hockey player. She leads the nation in goals, assists, points and points per game.

The Kazmaier winner will be named on March 21.
