Central Street Paving Project Beginning This Week

The North Reading Department of Public Works announced the Central Street paving project will begin this week.

The DPW said construction on Central Street will begin on or about Monday, July 13. The construction will begin with approximately one week of pulverizing to reclaim the road surface, according to the DPW. A paving crew will then be scheduled to begin work the following week to limit the amount of time the motorists will have to travel on an unpaved roadway.

Central Street will only be open to residents during the duration of the construction, the town said. All other motorists will be required to seek alternate routes of travel. Through traffic will be re-routed to either Route 28/Main Street or Haverhill Street.

The town strongly urged motorcyclists to seek alternative routes, as well.
