North Reading Recreation offers two different day programs for kids. Both programs run for eight weeks this summer.
Kid Connection
Kid Connection has already started, but it’s not too late to join. It is a day program for tots and they will experience crafting, singing, dancing, cooking and playing in the park. Each week has a different theme, according to Recreation Director Lynne Clemens.

The program is for potty-trained tots up to kids ready for kindergarten. The program runs Monday through Thursday mornings. Every staff member is trained in First Aid and CPR, Clemens said. The staff is managed by Recreation Programmer Maria Brown. According to Clemens, Brown has been with Parks and Recreation for 10 years.
The program is held in the air-conditioned Recreation Center at Ipswich River Park.

SummerScape
SummerScape is a full day program held at the Little School. Before and after care is available. This program is for school age children.
Every Monday is a theme day and everyone, including the staff, decorate the school and dress according to the theme.
On Tuesdays children can play a variety of sports and on Wednesday’s kids go on field trips.
“Each week brings us to a great fun location,” Clemens said.
Thursday is water day, Clemens said. Kids play with water balloons, a wet slide, and play water games. Friday is for the “silliest, messiest, craziest relay games you could imagine.” The joke is usually on the counselors, Clemens said.
