K9s Pebbles and Elmo Join Middlesex Sheriff's Office

The Middlesex Sheriff's Office welcomed two new members, Pebbles and Elmo, with a ceremony.

MASSACHUSETTS — Two new K9s are officially on the unit.

The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office formally welcomed its two newest members in a ceremony held Thursday, March 24, at the office’s training academy in Chelmsford.

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian presented badges to Pebbles and Elmo, who join the MSO’s K-9 Unit after having completed 12 weeks of training at Alpha Canis Advanced K9 Training & Care in Weymouth, said an announcement.

“We are pleased to welcome Pebbles and Elmo to the MSO,” said Sheriff Koutoujian in a statement. “Our K-9 Unit plays an important role in not only providing perimeter security and narcotics detection capabilities, but also in assisting our municipal partners with searches for missing persons and suspects. The addition of these new teams enhances not only our internal security, but also our collaboration with our law enforcement partners.”

Pebbles is a Labrador Retriever and Elmo is a Dutch Shepherd, one pairing up with officer John Pimental, Jr., and the other with Michael Seamans, both veteran members of the MSO.

Officer Seamans is a second-generation handler, following in the footsteps of his late father – David Seamans – who was a K-9 Officer for the Lowell Police Department.
